Brioche – Single Colour (Finished)

This class is an introduction to a fascinating family of stitch patterns: the brioche stitch family.  The basic brioche stitch creates a textured fabric with great drape, and there are endless variations of the stitch that offer lots of opportunities for your creativity.

  • brioche purl stitch
  • increases and decreases in brioche stitch
  • syncopated brioche stitch
  • honeycomb brioche stitch
Skill prerequisites

Students must be able to:

  • cast on
  • knit and purl
  • understand yarn overs
  • read patterns and charts
Materials

Please bring the following with you to class:

  • light colour DK (Double Knit) yarn (wool is recommended)
  • straight or circular needles to match the yarn (if in doubt, check the recommended needle size on the ball band)
  • markers, scissors, waste yarn
  • Barbara Walker’s “A Treasury of Knitting Patterns” (optional)
